SeekEasy (rev 8.55) Installshield version upgrade from earlier 8-series versions:

  1. Print out this page of instructions.
  2. Click DOWNLOAD to download the file 'seekinst.exe'. (738K, about 4 minutes with a 28.8 modem)
  3. When the SeekEasy installation program (seekinst.exe) has been downloaded, you must run it to install SeekEasy:
  4. Find 'seekinst.exe' on your drive (using Start -> Find -> Files or Folders) and click on the filename to run it.
  5. It will install the new SeekEasy, asking your permission as it does so.
  6. Note: There will now be TWO versions of SeekEasy installed on your computer, your earlier 8 series version and Rev. 8.55. Run 8.55 (the new version) to verify it's working properly. --To run SeekEasy, go to Start -> Programs -> SeekEasy Rev. 8.55 and select it.
  7. SeekEasy will indicate that it's an unregistered copy.

There are two ways to register your new copy with your Registration Code:

    1. Registration only:
You can copy your Registration Code from the old version to the new one, by either typing it in, or copying/pasting it (from the "Registration Info" -> "Enter Registration Code" page of your older version to the same place in the new version) using the Windows Clipboard. This will register your copy and eliminate the nag screens, but won't transfer any of your other settings (places to start searches, other settings, etc.).

    2. Registration and preserve user-selected settings:
You can transfer the Registration Code and all your settings from the older version of SeekEasy to the newer one. To do this, copy the "seekeasy.cfg" file from the folder of the older SeekEasy version into the folder holding the new SeekEasy 8.55. This "seekeasy.cfg" file holds your Registration Code and all your other settings.

  8. When you're satisfied that the new SeekEasy is running properly:
    - You can delete the seekinst.exe file you downloaded. It's no longer necessary.
    - You can remove the older version of SeekEasy by going to your Control Panel, (Start-> Settings-> Control Panel) selecting Add/Remove Programs, and removing the older version of SeekEasy, while leaving the Rev. 8.55 version.
